#1 When you close your eyes and think about where you want to live, what comes to the surface?
Someday I want to live in Liverpool, England. My main reason for wanting to live in Liverpool is probably soccer. I really enjoy watching and playing soccer. In Liverpool there would be many opportunities to play soccer. I would also love to watch Liverpool club team play. I think someday I will be able to live in or visit Liverpool, England.
#2 Look at yourself in the mirror and describe what you see.
I see a kid who will hopefully be successful. He likes to play soccer and is good at academics. He likes language arts more than any other subject. Someday he wants to play soccer professionally. I see a kid who likes to go outside, and be active. Thats what I see
#3 Pretend you are a raindrop falling from the sky… describe what you see.
When I imagine being a raindrop, I see the sky moving by me fast. I see people, cars and light all going by so fast. The ground moves closer at a faster and faster pace and I wonder if I'm going to survive the fall. I see a lake in the distance that I will aim for, so hopefully it will be a softer landing. Then I hit the surface of the lake and sink.
#4 What is one of your personal hopes and dreams?
One day I hope to be a professional soccer player. I want to live in Liverpool, England and play for their professional team. In my spare time I would like to play in a band and write songs. I don't know what I would do with the money. I would probably have a normal house and give some of my money to charity.
#5 Would you rather be rich and famous, or just rich? Why?
I would rather be rich and famous. I would hope the reason I'm famous is because I play soccer professionally. There might be some downsides to being famous because I might have to pay more attention to the way I dress, and what I do. I do still think it would be amazing to be a soccer player for a professional team. When I grow older my decision may change but for now I hope to be rich and famous.
#6 What is you favorite season of the year?
Winter is definitely my favorite season. Its fun having snow all around. I don't really like being cold but the snow and good times are worth it. My favorite memory from this season would probably be when I went to Yellowstone National Park. It was last year and my family had a lot of fun. We saw a lot of cool things like bison and geysers. It was a really fun time.
#7 What is one place you would like to visit? Why?
I want to visit London someday. I think it would be fun to see the different stores and foods. It would be fun to go in the London Eye and drive around town site seeing. When I'm in England I would also go to Liverpool. I would watch the club team play soccer and meet famous people. It would be a really fun time.
#8 Describe your favorite possession.
My favorite possession would be my house. My house is a very nice place. It has windows and doors and lots of charm. The lawn is nice, its a little dry right now but should grow back. My house is a tan color and has a nice back deck.
#9 What would you do if you found an injured animal in the street?
First I would put it in a dark quiet place. Depending on what kind of animal it is, I would probably try to feed it. Then I would call an animal shelter. I would keep them calm and quiet until the animal shelter gets there. I would then turn the animal over and hope it has a good life.
#10 What animals frighten you and why?
I am very frightened of the wild boar. Wild Boars are very aggressive creatures. I was once attacked by one. I barely made it out with my life. Wild Boars have very sharp teeth and can run very fast. I think that the main reason for my fear of the wild boar is their small figure. They are so small they can sneak around you at night and plan your demise.
#11 What is your favorite place to be and why? (I know it is my class, but please, pick something else)
My favorite place to be is probably with my family. My family is very fun to hang out with. I like to be with them whenever its possible. When I'm with my family I tend to have a lot of fun. I think everybody should
#12 What is your favorite book and what do you like most about it?
I enjoyed the Harry Potter series. I thought that they were very entertaining and fun to read. They weren't very challenging so they didn't take long to read. My favorite part about the books is probably how suspenseful they were. I hope you get to read them, and enjoy them someday.
#13 What is the best and worst thing that has happened to you this week?
The best thing that happened to me this week was probably getting to beat Hutchinson. I scored two goals for our team. We beat Hutchinson 2-0. I don't think I really had a worst part of my week. If I had to choose my least favorite part of my week, it would probably be the fact that I have a cold. I got a cold from the soccer tournament we had this weekend. Overall I really enjoyed this week, I got to play a lot of soccer and will be taking my drivers test this weekend.
#14 Why do many people make up, read, or view gruesome and frightening stories? Why do so many people like these tales?
I think people like being scared because its entertaining. Being scared really gets your blood flowing and makes you feel more alive. I think its fun to be scared, in a controlled environment. I like being scared because it makes me excited and nervous. I am looking forward to Halloween this year, I love scaring other people.
Journal #15 - Give examples of prejudice. Identify the most common types of prejudice in our community, in the U.S., and in the world. Explain why these types of prejudice are destructive.
I think that racism is a big part of this world. I believe that some ignorant people think that it has gone away. It hasn't. People are still being discriminated against because of their race. For example, President Obama. When he was first elected there were many threats of assassination and other forms of harm. I think people need to learn to accept people for who they are, even if it means having to interact with people of different races. Racism is one of the most common types of prejudice in the U.S.
Journal #16 – Write about the meaning of COURAGE. Give examples of courageous behavior. Which kinds (or examples) of courage seem to be most admirable?
I think courage is a very vague thing. I think the word courage is used to often. Someone who is truly courageous is somebody who stands against the norm. If your courageous, you are a truly great person. In my opinion, Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most courageous people in history.
#17- How do you act, speak, or dress differently according to which group you are with? (For example, you probably don’t talk to your parents, grandparents, boss, or teachers
the same way you talk to your friends.)
I think that my parents are very cool, and I tell them pretty much everything. I don't think that I act much different around them. My teachers are cool too, especially Mr. Dreiling. I don't dress up for my parents, when sometimes i'll dress nicer to go to school, or too movies, ect. Overall I don't think that I change the way I act/speak very often.
#18 - Chapters 12-15: What is your definition of a MOB? How does mob behavior differ from individual behavior? How would you handle an angry mob, as opposed to an angry individual?
I think that a mob works together. Mobs are scarier than angry individuals, unless the angry individual is Hulk Hogan, in with case I would be very afraid. If I had to choose whether to stand up by myself or with a mob, I would probably stand by myself. I like to be independent.
#19 - How do you feel about sheltering children from unpleasant truths (death, disease, etc)? Is it right for someone to withhold information to protect someone else?
I think that sheltering is ok, as long as you tell them when they ask, or when they are of an age that you believe it is appropriate to tell them. I think things like rape, racism, and similar issues, should be revealed to anyone who wishes to know about them. If a child sees a news story about rape on the television, they could be really confused, if they are not aware of what rape is. I'm not saying that you should sit down with your 5 year old son and explain rape to him, but if he sees something on television, or hears about it and asks you, you should explain it in an unbiased way. I conclude that sheltering is ok, until the child wishes to know.
#20 - Consider and write why people fail to do the right thing, even though their consciences clearly tell them what to do. Which influences would you be likely to personally resist, and which might overrule your conscience?
I think that people like to be rebels, they get a thrill out of doing the wrong thing. I think that I'm pretty good at doing the right thing. I think that the people who resist their conscience can have very big consequences. If you are going to disobey your conscience you should be sure that the consequences don't effect others. I hope others take their choices seriously and realize that your choices will decide your fate.
